Imani

By Julia B.

Imani

Each poem I write is a victory dance

Of Life & Passion over time & the ultimate way we surrender

Each memory its own resurrection of spirit and sacrifice,

Ceremony & celebration

Each word a bell intoning throughout time

You cannot join me in this struggle

You cannot know the path I walk

Words can only describe a knowing so far

The rest is mystery & faith

Each dance I dance is a poem

Each sacrifice a resurrection

Each word a bell

A ceremony

A celebration

The rest is mystery & faith

What song are you here to sing?

Are you singing it or have you been silenced?

Have you made love singing?

Have tears streamed down your face in complete silence?

Do you know what it is to soar above sound and to dive into

nothingness?

Poem/dance

Spirit/Bell

The mysterious silence is singing like sirens

The timelessness of song like

water rushing arroyos

The victory of sacrifice

Where I cannot see you clearly

Where you cannot see me

Yet, we survive until we do not.

We are seen by someone, always.

We are victorious at times.

You are poem

You are dance

You are spirit

You are bell

The mystery itself is medicine

Faith is the name of a quiet, serene woman who

Answers when you call out to her softly…”Imani”

Beyond that, faith is a belief in the unseen that will bring goodness.

We are healed simply by choosing to be…
