New Year, New Me!

Does that sound like you? Have you created a list of New Year’s resolutions? If so, great. If not, great. I think more than ever we find ourselves weary at the beginning of this new month, and for good reason. Yes, it is the beginning of the Gregorian calendar, but is it really time to start afresh? Please know that you can choose to change, adopt new habits, turn a new leaf every day. But changes of seasons and cycles are especially advantageous times to starting new things. January 1st however is still winter. We are still in winter. If we look at nature we see trees still barren, animals still in hibernation, grounding foods in season (at least in the Northern Hemisphere). What does this tell us? We are still in a time of rest! If you find yourself without the energy to start implementing new habits, it’s okay. The astrological new year begins with Aries in March near the start of spring. Spring as a sign of hope, rebirth, and energy is perfect for implementing newness in your life. My suggestion is that you use the remaining winter time to rest, recharge, and reflect. Think back over the past year to help you create goals and visions for this current year. Then come spring you can plant those seeds and take steps towards those goals. Here are some rituals or activities that may be helpful: Create a vision board Gather inspiring quotes Create a playlist that symbolizes your goal Plant a literal seed with the intention of your goal (perhaps start it indoors) Light a candle while thinking about your goal Write a letter of gratitude as if you have already achieved your goal Use a guided meditation to step into your ideal self Create a spell jar (place symbolic herbs, colors, images, items in a jar with intention) The most important thing to remember is how powerful your intention is. And be creative, have fun, follow your intuition. There is no wrong way. You have the rest of winter to reflect and set goals or intentions for this year. Along with personal intentions you can also set collective intentions for healing, peace, love, etc. Happy winter reflecting and recharging!
