How do we keep the vibrant energy & beauty alive in our moms, aunties & elder sisters? Read on to learn more!
By the time my older sister was in her 60's, she had developed dementia.
This once vibrant, spicy & glamorous woman had lost a lot of weight along with her memory.
However, she never lost her since of humor & the essence of her being. Every now & then she would say something(that usually only she understood) & begin laughing.Or, she would say a phrase or give a compliment on our clothing or hair & for that moment, she was back with us. In her normal recognizable self. She was a goddess. Heads use to turn as she walked into a space. She once wore expensive french perfumes, beautiful garments, impeccable make-up & loved fruit! Even though she was in this different awareness of her aging, I couldn't help but feel that she would still like to be reminded of her divine feminine
& beauty. As a previous Massage Therapist & Aromatherapist working in various spas, I decided to begin bringing her the soothing benefits of essential oils, along with foot & hand massages, vibrant fresh fruits, silky moomoos & robes, calming music in her headphones
& decadent dark chocolates.
Anything that reminded her of her beauty & comfort. Here are a few ideas that you can use to enhance the mind, body & spirit of the aging goddess(s) in your life.
Aromatic Soft Towel Baths- Fill a small basin with warm water & add 3-5 drops of lavender or chamomile essential oil & sesame oil. Mix around, then place 2-3 small bath cloths into the water to soak up the oils. Wring out the now scented towel & place on forehead, wrap hands & feet until the towels cool. Then place towels back into the aromatic water, then use
the warm towels to gently massage face, neck, hands & feet.
Ceremonial Foot & Hand Treatment- Fill a medium size basin with warm water essential oils and 1/2 cup magnesium flakes or Epsom salts to make a soothing foot bath. Have her sit in a comfortable chair and place her feet in the bath for 5-10 minutes. Depending on your comfort level & the health of your back, you can sit in a stool or kneel on a pillow to gently massage her feet in the water for a few minutes. Next, dry her feet and apply Castor oil mixed with a soothing essential oil to her feet. Castor oil works great on thin dry skin. Massage her feet gently using long gentle stokes, being extra careful with the toe joints.
After massaging, wipe access oil off her feet and slip her on a pair of super cozy socks. She will probably sleep very well that night!
Fruit & Flower Offerings- Honor her like a goddess! A basket of her favorite fruits & flowers will always lift her spirits. The color, the scent and the juicy fruit is bursting with life force energy!
Dark Chocolate/Raw Cacao- A goddess favorite(usually, but not all) is a reminder of opulence, sensuality & seduction. A healthier option to dark cocoa is raw cacao. It has a healthy dose of calcium, iron & potassium.
Binaural Beats, nature sounds & 432HZ audio sounds in a headphone will delight her senses & calm her spirit. She may not like earbuds inside her ears, so try headphones instead.
Soft, silky material clothing. Moomoos are the best. They are one size fits all, you can slip them on her without the hassle of getting arms and legs through as you would t-shirts and pants & they usually come in beautiful patterns that will allow her to move freely & make her look like a queen!
There are so many ways to honor the special ladies in our lives. Be creative & loving!

Great Article! These are some really good ideas to honor the women if your life. I will certainly start doing more random acts of kindness, especially for the women who shaped the woman I am today!
This article was terrific. It's crucial to honor the goddess in our lives. I surprised my church member with flowers one day (for no reason) and this deeply touched her heart.
